Daily Conversation with Larry

Everyday as I take the boys to school in Albuquerque and through the canyon, Larry and I always have the same conversation.

Larry: Mom, are we out of the mountains yet?

Me: No, Larry. We are just going into the mountains.

Larry: Mom, are we out of the mountains yet?

Me: No, Larry. Can you see the mountains around us?

Larry: Mom, are we out of the mountains yet?

Me: Yes, Larry. We are now out of the mountains.

Larry: (quite fervently) Oh, thank you, Mama!

The Verdict

Once again, the book (Gone With the Wind) is better than the movie. The movie was accurate up until the intermission, then important details in the story were twisted.

My main gripes:

Ashley is way too affectionate to Melly.
Scarlett is portrayed as innocent, not vindictive.
Neither Rhett nor Ashley are attractive.
To many important people are missing.

It is ok. More often than not I enjoy the images in my own head more than what others try to picture or create. I'll keep reading...and watching...and comparing.

  1. The movies never live up to the books. But I will always watch the movies too.

I'm glad my kids aren't the only ones who ask the same random questions over and over and over and over, ok I'm sure you get it.

  2. I miss Dicey and Will. I loved Will. Just a good guy.
